Giovanni GeraciGiovanni Geraci

Giovanni Geraci is an Assistant Professor at University Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona and the coordinator of the Telecommunications Engineering program. He was previously a Research Scientist with Nokia Bell Labs and holds a Ph.D. from the UNSW Sydney. He serves as Distinguished Lecturer of IEEE ComSoc and IEEE VTS and Editor for IEEE TWC and IEEE COMML. He is a co-Editor of the book “UAV Communications for 5G and Beyond” by Wiley -IEEE Press and received the IEEE ComSoc Outstanding Young Researcher Award for Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Joerg WidmerJoerg Widmer

Joerg Widmer is Research Professor and Research Director of IMDEA Networks in Madrid, Spain. Before, he held positions at DOCOMO Euro-Labs in Munich, Germany and EPFL, Switzerland. He was a visiting researcher at the International Computer Science Institute in Berkeley, USA, University College London, UK, and TU Darmstadt, Germany. His research focuses on wireless networks, ranging from extremely high frequency millimeter-wave communication and MAC layer design to mobile network architectures. Joerg Widmer authored more than 200 conference and journal papers and three IETF RFCs, and holds 14 patents. He was awarded an ERC consolidator grant, the Friedrich Wilhelm Bessel Research Award of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, a Mercator Fellowship of the German Research Foundation, a Spanish Ramon y Cajal grant, as well as nine best paper awards. He is an IEEE Fellow and Distinguished Member of the ACM.

Emilio CalvaneseEmilio Calvanese

Dr. Emilio Calvanese Strinati obtained his Engineering Master degree in 2001 from the University of Rome ‘La Sapienza’ and his Ph.D in Engineering Science in 2005 from Paris Telecom. He then started working at Motorola Labs in Paris in 2002. Then in 2006 he joint CEA LETI as a research engineer. From 2007, he becomes a PhD supervisor. From 2010 to 2012, he has been the co-chair of the wireless working group in GreenTouch Initiative, which deals with design of future energy efficient communication networks. From 2011 to 2016 he was the Smart Devices & Telecommunications strategic programs Director, then, until January 2020 he was the Smart Devices & Telecommunications Scientific and Innovation Director. Since February 2020 he is the Nanotechnologies and Wireless for 6G (New-6G) Program Director focusing on future 6G technologies.  He has published around 200 papers in journals, international conferences, and books chapters, and he has given more than 200 international invited talks, keynotes and tutorials. He is the main inventor of more than 75 patents. His current research interests are on Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces, Semantic communications, Goal-oriented communications AI-native technologies in the contest of 6G.

Stavros KalapothasStavros Kalapothas

Stavros Kalapothas holds a BSc degree in Computer Science and a MSc in Pervasive Computing. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in optimizing inference with Deep Learning algorithms exploiting hardware-based acceleration for multi-modal sensor data acquisition and processing at the  Electronics Circuits, Systems and Applications laboratory (ECSA) Lab at the University of Peloponnese. He has research experience with embedded systems for Internet of Things and Edge Computing, exploiting various sensor technologies. His research interests also entail Hardware Accelerators, Wireless Sensor Networks and Software Defined Radio. He has 20 years of professional experience as an ICT engineer, as well as in senior team leading positions in the ICT industry. Currently, he is a Policy Officer in the European Commission at the Investments in High Capacity Networks and 5G Connectivity Unit.

Periklis ChatzimisiosPeriklis Chatzimisios

Periklis Chatzimisios serves as Professor in the Department of Information and Electronic Engineering of the International Hellenic University (Greece). He has been recently awarded the title of Researcher Professor by the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of New Mexico (USA). He is also a Visiting Fellow in the Faculty of Science & Technology, at Bournemouth University (UK). Dr. Chatzimisios is/has been involved in several standardization and IEEE activities under the IEEE Communication Society (ComSoc) serving as the Chair of the ComSoc Young Professionals (YP) Standing Committee and as a Member of the ComSoc Education Services Board, the ComSoc Standards Program Development Board and the ComSoc Industry Outreach Board and the ComSoc Online Content Board. He is the Chair of the Communications Chapter and Professional Activities for the IEEE Greece Section. In the past he served as the Chair of ComSoc Technical Committee on Information Infrastructure and Networking (TCIIN), the Vice Chair of ComSoc Technical Committee on Big Data (TCBD) and he is still an active member of the IEEE Future Networks (5G) Initiative.

Juho LeeJuho Lee

Juho Lee is currently a Fellow (EVP of technology) at Samsung Electronics, where he is leading research and standardization for mobile communications. He joined Samsung Electronics in 2000 and has worked on 3G, 4G, and 5G technologies. His current research focus is on preparation of future technologies such as 5G evolution and 6G. He was a vice chairman of 3GPP RAN WG1 from February 2003 to August 2009 and chaired LTE/LTE-Advanced MIMO sessions. He received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Korea, in 2000. Dr. Lee is a Fellow of IEEE.

Zhenfei TangZhenfei Tang

Zhenfei Tang is Senior Manager of wireless research in Huawei. He led 5G evolution research and managed a series of national projects from Huawei. He has been engaged in the research for 3G, 4G and 5G wireless communications systems and was the major representative of Huawei in 3GPP and IMT-Advanced Promotion Group in China since he joined Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd in 2005. Mr. Tang has more than 100 granted patents in the area of wireless communications and contributed more than 500 papers to international standards and meetings. He received his M.S. degree from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications in 2004.

Ashutosh DuttaAshutosh Dutta

Ashutosh Dutta is currently Chief 5G Strategist and JHU/APL Sabbatical Fellow at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Labs (JHU/APL), USA. He also serves as Chair for Electrical and Computer Engineering for Engineering Professional Program at JHU. His career, spanning more than 30 years, includes Director of Technology Security and Lead Member of Technical Staff at AT&T, CTO of Wireless at a Cybersecurity company NIKSUN, Inc., Senior Scientist in Telcordia Research, Director of Central Research Facility at Columbia University, adjunct faculty at NJIT, and Computer Engineer with TATA Motors. Ashutosh is author of more than 100 technical papers and 31 issued patents. Ashutosh is co-author of the book, titled, “Mobility Protocols and Handover Optimization: Design, Evaluation and Application” published by IEEE and John & Wiley. As a Technical Leader in 5G and security, Ashutosh has been serving as the founding Co-Chair for the IEEE Future Networks Initiative that focuses on 5G standardization, education, publications, testbed, and roadmap activities. Ashutosh is IEEE Communications Society's Distinguished Lecturer for 2017-2020 and as an ACM Distinguished Speaker (2020-2022). Ashutosh currently serves as the founding co-chair for IEEE Future Networks Initiative and Member-At-Large for IEEE Communications Society. Ashutosh has served as the general Co-Chair for the IEEE STEM conference for the last 10 years. Ashutosh served as the Director of Industry Outreach for IEEE Communications Society from 2014-2019. He was recipient of 2009 IEEE MGA Leadership award and 2010 IEEE-USA professional leadership award. Ashutosh currently serves as Member-At-Large for IEEE Communications Society for 2020-2022. Ashutosh has served as the general Co-Chair for the premier IEEE 5G World Forums and has organized 75 5G World Summits around the world. Ashutosh currently serves as the Chair for IEEE Industry Connection’s O-RAN activities.

Ashutosh is a Distinguished Alumnus of NIT Rourkela with BS in Electrical Engineering, MS in Computer Science from NJIT, and Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Columbia University under the supervision of Prof. Henning Schulzrinne. Ashutosh is a Fellow of IEEE and Distinguished member ACM.

Shashank GaurShashank Gaur

Shashank currently leads Technical Pre-Sales activities as Manager of the Pre-Sales team at TTTech Auto. Shashank is also a leading contributor to topics such as Time Sensitive Networking for in-vehicle communication. Shashank actively engages in IEEE 802.1DG Standards activities on behalf of TTTech Auto. Shashank pursued a PhD on the topic of "Context Aware Sensor Networks" under the supervision of Prof Eduardo Tovar and Prof Luis Almeida at CISTER. Before that Shashank completed Masters in Embedded Systems at ECE Paris, France and Bachelor in Electronics and Communication Engineering at BKBIET, Pilani. Shashank is also actively engaged in various technical communities. Shashank has been involved with the organization of multiple conferences such as ICC, GLOBECOM, RTSS, CPSWEEK, etc. Shashank has been an IEEE volunteer for 15+ years across various OUs such as MGA, Region 8, TAB, Computer Society and ComSoc.

Eman HammadEman Hammad

Dr. Eman Hammad is a cybersecurity professional & interdisciplinary professional focusing on trustworthy & resilient complex systems and emerging technologies. She obtained her PhD in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the University of Toronto. Eman combines practical experience and theoretical research to shape her vision for resilient-by-design solutions in the connected world. She is the director of the innovations in Systems Trust & Resilience (iSTAR) lab. Eman's work has been published in more than 50 papers, and was recognized with merit awards (best paper award, best poster award) and has been featured on multiple outlets. Most recently, she was honored as one of Canada's Top 20 Women in Cybersecurity. Eman is a senior IEEE member currently serving as Toronto ComSoc chair, and the co-chair of the IEEE 5G Security working group for the International Network Generations Roadmap (INGR). She delivered numerous invited talks in academic and industrial conferences, chaired and co-chaired several conferences and workshops, and participated in several panels. She serves on the advisory board of several initiatives. Eman is an active advocate for diversity and inclusion in STEM and Cybersecurity. Her service has been recognized by IEEE exceptional, chapter achievement, and exemplary service awards.

Virginia PilloniVirginia Pilloni

Virginia Pilloni received her PhD degree in Electronic and Computer Engineering with Doctor Europaeus mention from the University of Cagliari, Italy, in 2013. She currently is a tenure-track Assistant Professor at the same University, and she is qualified for the position of associate professor according to the Italian law. Her main research interests are focused on task allocation and optimal resource management among cooperating objects of the Internet of Things (IoT). Virginia has been an expert evaluator of EU H2020 and BELSPO proposals. She has been involved in several national and international research projects. In 2013 Virginia cofounded the academic spin-off GreenShare Srl, which develops ICT solutions for sustainable mobility. She is a member of the ITU-T Study Group 20 on IoT and Smart Cities and Communities (SC&C). She is an Editor of Elsevier Computer Networks and Frontiers in Communications and Networks. Virginia is an IEEE Senior Member. She has served as an organization chair and program committee member of several international conferences. She is a member of the IEEE ComSoc Member Services Board, and the IEEE ComSoc Young Professionals Standing Committee, where she currently serves as the awards chair for the IEEE ComSoc Best YP Awards.
